My project at Delta Mekong

With the desire to preserve Mekong river fish, 3 students (including me) from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City together with the people of Con Son (Can Tho City) set up a fishery information room, displaying 3D models of dozens of fish species. precious fresh water. Sounds pretty great huh?

At the start of 2022, me, and members of the Piscis team have visited Con Son many times, especially Uncle Bay’s raft and have soon loved and been close to the people here. The most impressive thing for us is the enthusiasm of the people here and how we always feel comfortable visiting this place. But unfortunately, there’s a problem, although they have tons of diverse fishes, the tourist will miss out on some important information on some of these fishes. It’s really entertaining to listen to the guide, but they usually focus on a specific species rather than giving information on the others. So we decided to frame information on 27 handpicked fish species and display 16 3D models for an information room.

Through this, we wish to bring our project to all tourists visiting Con Son, to clarify the great economic, cultural, and environmental significance of the fish species on the Hau River. We also want to help promote the local tourism industry by creating a new highlight in the tourist map of Con Son and Can Tho in general.

In the process of conceptualizing, brainstorming, and implementing the project, we were fortunate to receive help from Uncle Bay as well as teachers at Can Tho University, especially Mr. Hai and Mr. Loi. Uncle Bay and the teachers there shared their knowledge of the fish and seafood industry, enthusiastically supporting us both in terms of content and logistics, helping the project to succeed.

We also raised funds for the project by ourselves, bringing specialties of fish rafts such as grilled fish and fish to many customers in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. In total, we sold approximately 400kg. Moreover, we also played the role of tutors, with more than 100 hours of teaching to raise funds for the project.

This project has helped Bay Bon fish raft be the first fish raft on the Hau River with specific models and information of rare fish species, hopefully it will support domestic and foreign tourists, the students, students and people who have a need to learn about the typical fish species on the Hau River and Bay Bonefish raft and can also help the staff working at the fish raft communicate the characteristics. of different fish species. But in general, I’m really happy to be part of this project, this has helped me improve my socializing skills, confidence and made me fall in love with this city.
